Why am I procrastinating on things that matter?

The thing you want to do sits on your desk.
The book you’re meant to write.
The business you’re meant to start.
The call you know you should make.

You want it — but it keeps getting pushed aside.
Day after day. Week after week.

And it drains you.
Because it’s always there, lingering in the background.
Each time you avoid it, you quietly train yourself not to take your own intentions seriously.
Eventually, what once mattered becomes just another abandoned project.

This happens because what you’re avoiding isn’t just a task — it’s a responsibility.
One that might require change.
Saying no where you usually say yes.
Being seen. Being vulnerable.

Resistance is not a flaw.
Anyone who moves toward what matters will meet it.

What needs to be trained is your ability to direct your will.
To place your attention somewhere — and keep it there.
To accept that it will be hard, and do it anyway.

Train the “I will.”

Choose one thing you want to have done today — not something automatic or routine.
Ask yourself: Is this important? Is it realistic?
If yes, write it down and say:
“Today, I will do X.”

Then do it.
When it’s done, acknowledge it.

The “I will” is the foundation of all things.
